Speaking Tables improves the level of English conversation between all teachers (NOT just English teachers) and students.
Very important
Great fun!
Improves student-teacher relationships
Various themes to choose from
Light refreshments on the table
Schools will receive lists of topics for the tables
Each teacher on his toranut at recess time will choose a topic and go and sit at the table.
Students (only the number of chairs at each table) will sit with peers and the teacher, and speak about the topic IN ENGLISH. (They can also eat…)
All teachers/principals/everyone will speak in English. The idea is fluency and self confidence not necessarily 100% accuracy.
Good for teachers AND students!!!!
Any teacher can do it.
The idea is to speak with your students in English.
You DO NOT have to be an English teacher. If you make mistakes, that's ok. The idea is to speak.
Some students may even prefer speaking with someone whose English is NOT perfect.
Have the principal speak with the teachers and explain the program with you.
The "תורנות חצר" is something that teachers do anyway.
This opens a door for teachers to get to know their students better.
(or somewhere in the middle)
The idea is to be able to get express your idea and have it be comprehended by the listener. We have all used Hebrish at times - and we still all understand. Teachers will be able to communicate in English with their students even and despite the fact that their English is NOT 100% accurate. Explain this to them.
