Archive/Oral History Team, led by Jerolyn Morrison
Jerolyn Morrison is leading our new Oral History Team and is beginning an exciting new venture: “Peoples’ Voices.” Working with with HOTNIR volunteers (including many Baylor students) and the Baylor Institute of Oral History. Jerolyn plans to archives the artifacts and stories of HOTNIR’s work over these next challenging years. As team leader, she presented at the Plenary, and a new e-mail is available for recording personal memories of recent events. Please include only first-hand experiences (peoplevoice.archive@gmail.com ). Also, we need a cool new logo for Peoples’ Voices.
You are invited to share current events from our community that highlights news about first generation Americans and recent immigrants. We are interested in people! We want to hear their stories and learn about their lives in Central Texas, as well as their journeys to the USA.
HOTNIR Archives & Oral History currently has two objectives.
One is to collect and archive materials specifically about current events in and around Waco that align with the mission of HOTNIR and will be available for members. Please see the listing below and submit information to: peoplevoice.archive@gmail.com
Information collecting summer and fall 2025:
News articles (link or actual article in pdf, word doc or jpeg format).
Magazine articles (link or actual article in pdf, word doc or jpeg format).
Social media posts (screen shoot, save & send).
Bits-and-Bites from news letters and community out reach boards that are of interest. These can be from cultural groups, church groups, educational groups, etc.
The second objective is to interview and document “peoples’ stories” using methods of oral history. We are being properly trained by experts this summer to better guide this process. This likely will be active in the early fall. If you are interested in contributing in this part of the program please send an email to peoplevoice.archive@gmail.com
If you have questions email us! We will get back to you. It might take a few days, but please know that we will.
Thank you!
