See timers above for the World Boss (WB) window (occurs every 3 hours).
The Gloomfury Boss Arena will activate at exactly 00:00, and will persist for the entire hour following.
The first boss kill attempt starts exactly 5-minutes after the arena is activated. Subsequent kills do not occur on specific timings, but depend on the speed of the prior kill. Players cannot leave the arena's circle once a boss kill attempt has begun.
After every kill round, there is a 2-minute intermission stage that is divided into two 1-minute segments.
The first minute starts with the boss dying, loot calculations being performed, and loot dropping for players. Use this time to collect your loot, share your findings in chat, and recall back to base to vendor items if needed.
The second minute starts by spawning a new Gloomfury boss, with level and stats depending on the speed and boss rank of the previous kill. Use this time to reassemble your group and rebuff party members.
Each Gloomfury will spawn with an HP pool relative to its current level. It can gain/lose levels between rounds as follows:
+2 levels if killed extremely quickly.
+1 level if killed fast.
+0 level if killed slowly.
-1 level if killed extremely slow or if unchallenged (no players in arena).
-3 levels if killed during enrage.
For 90% of the time during a kill, players will typically groups themselves in a tightly-packed bunch directly in front of where the boss spawns. This has the following benefits:
Allows for Healing Totems placed-down by Shamans to heal the most targets possible.
Guarantees that party buffs will be applied to all players, since everyone is within obvious proximity to the boss.
Acts as a good "reset" location between boss mechanics, since it's in the dead-center of the arena. It will give you the most time to react to a new mech regardless of which variant spawns next.
No obstacles immediately nearby, and also good line-of-sight (LOS) from every angle.
The Scatter variant of the Runedisk mechanic also typically allows for this same positioning, given that you're in a proper team composition. Good Shamans can heal the party through the Runedisk's DoT damage.
Careful of the bone spikes on either side of the boss, along with a few other prop obstacles. These objects have collision, meaning that your character cannot walk through them. If you're sloppy with your positioning, you may find yourself displaced by these objects, causing you to get killed by a Runedisk Wall that you otherwise may have avoided.
Due to the tiling of the texture used for the ground surface, some patterns become visible if viewed from a North/South direction. This creates some rough guidelines that your character can use for tracking during Runedisk Wall mechs to avoid death.
During your repositioning windows while Runedisk Wall mechs are active, run towards the hole in the wall if you're already mostly lined-up for it. This minimizes the amount of time you have to "focus" before you're cleared the mech.
If you notice a Runedisk Wall late and have to attempt to dodge it while being near the boss, it can be difficult to see the hole in the wall due to the boss's size, along with the mass of players in the area. In these situations, it can help to angle your camera to force a complete top-down perspective. This helps to orient your character while navigating the hole "blind".
During moments when you're not looking at anything else, it can be a good idea to focus on Gloom's mana bar. This will show the boss's spell casting timings. Seeing a "Summon Runedisks" spell populate this bar will give you the best reaction time if the spell happens to be a Wall variant, meaning you can plan your upcoming attacks and positioning for maximum output.
Try to do all of your movement and repositioning during casts of your Swift Shot and Dash abilities to maximize output. The other abilities in your rotation have cast time involved, which requires standing still. You don't want to be casting out of position while a Runedisk Wall is approaching.
Somewhat niche tips, but joining a clan and also having a crown-style (non-visor) prestige rank can both help in Gloom. When the horde of players repositioning during Wall mechs is numerous, it can get difficult to see your character among the crowd. A flashy clan tag and crown can help you stand out for your own visibility needs.
Practice and focus on your rota. Eventually, you with burn this into muscle memory, allowing you to focus more on the battlefield rather than your skill bar.
Dying = efficiency loss. Don't die! If you do happen to die during a run, be careful of when you choose to respawn. Rushing back to the boss at the wrong moment can easily catch you in another Runedisk Wall, killing you all over again.
A performance report will be displayed in the in-game chat after every Gloomfury kill. Review this to see how well you did!
Boss logs are available for viewing at any time via this link and navigating to the Boss Logs tab. This can also be accessed by using "/bosslog" via the in-game chat. The chat method is recommended, as it will bring you directly to the latest boss kill information without requiring you to know and enter the Kill ID #. You can also look up historical records using this by typing in various Kill ID #'s.
Your loot drop quality will be somewhat dependent upon your personal performance. The rest is up to RNG (luck)! The only threshold type that matters for Archer is DPS, but some other classes can also benchmark via Healing and/or Mitigation.
Your main goal should be to improve your gear to the point where you can start hitting 1100+ DPS consistently. This will grant you access to start obtaining endgame BiS items, the coveted 4-stat 110% gear.
Increase your loot drop potential even further by running Obelisk PvP content in the hour prior to Gloomfury spawning.
