Located on land owned by the Department of Conservation & Recreation, this was the site of a cotton spinning mill in the early-mid 1800s. One of a series of dams & mills in the Woodville area, the site is reached via a short walk on a path behind the Woodville fire station. The closest public parking is at the Lake Whitehall parking area by the dam on Highland Street.
The site was cleared and the sign was installed by a group of Scouts led by Colin Stacey for his Eagle Scout project.
