CADET LEADERSHIP

BATTALION COMMANDER (BN CDR)

Cadet Lieutenant Colonel (c/LTC)  Jackson, Kyla

As the Battalion Commander, Kyla is responsible for the training, efficiency, discipline, administration, and welfare of the battalion. In addition to being Battalion Commander, she is a member of the Color Guard team and Youth Physical Fitness team. Kyla has been in the program for 3 years going into her 4th and final year in JROTC. She is also on the Lacrosse team and choir. Kyla plans on going to college and pursue a degree as a veterinarian or communications.  JROTC has helped her with her confidence and leadership abilities. She hopes cadets get out of their comfort zone and get more involved with the program.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER (BN XO)

Cadet Major (c/MAJ) Silva, Ismael

As the Executive Officer, Ismael is responsible for ensuring that all Battalion Staff are executing their duties efficiently, communicating any issues or general updates to the Battalion Commander and ensuring that all Battalion cadet affairs and events are operating diligently. Ismael has been in the program for 2 years and has also been part of Color Guard, Squad &Platoon, and Honor Guard. Ismael plans on going to UCSD and acquiring a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR (BN CSM)

Cadet Command Sergeant Major (c/CSM) Salome, Jacobo

As the Command Sergeant Major, Jacob is responsible for the COs and First Sergeants and flag detail. Alongside being the CSM, he is proud of making friends in JROTC.  Jacob is also the Commander for the JV Armed Drill Team. Jacob has been in the program for 2 years. Jacob plans to attend college and degree is undecided.

ADJUDANT OFFICER (S1)

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Nguyen, Ketina


As the Adjutant Officer, Ketina is responsible for taking care of rosters and making sure that they are all organized. Alongside being the S1, she is part of the Unarmed Drill Team. Ketina has been in the program for 3 years and has helped her team win several trophies in competitions, including the national competition up in Los Angeles. Ketina plans on going to college to pursue a major in computer science to get a job in the cyber security field.

ADJUDANT OFFICER NCO (S1N)

Cadet Sergeant First Class (c/SFC) Gracias, Jared

The Adjudant Officer NCO is responsible for helping the Adjudant Primary maintain rosters for every event, competition, and team practices. The S1 also assist the S4 and S8 as needed. Jared is starting his 2nd year in the program as was a part of the Archery team.

SECURITY OFFICER (S2)

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Bustos, Eduardo

As the Security Officer, Eduardo is responsible for the armory, security, and weather forecast. Additionally, Eduardo is part of Armed Drill Team, and earned 1st Place with Best Drilled Squad & Platoon. Eduardo has been in the program for 3 years. Eduardo plans on enlisting in the Army after high school. He hopes that cadets stay in the program and join teams.

SECURITY OFFICER ASSISTANT (S2A)

Cadet First Lieutenant (c/1LT) Chavez, Jesus


As the Security Officer Assistant, Jesus is responsible for assisting the S2 Officer in his duties. He helps the S2 coordinate security for JROTC events hosted at Hoover High School and also assist the S2 with maintenance of armory equipment. Additinally, Jesus is part of Armed Drill Team (ADT), Youth Physical Fitness (YPF), and the Archery team. Jesus has been the program for 2-years. He encourages new cadets to join a team.

TRAINING OFFICER (S3)

Cadet Major (c/MAJ) Castaneda, Robert

As the Training and Operations Officer, Robert is responsible for working closely with the Battalion Commander on planning & preparation, conduct, and supervision of JROTC activities in the battalion. Besides being the S3, Robert is also the Armed Drill Team (ADT) Commander, Honor Guard, Color Guard, and Archery team. Robert has been in the program for 3-years and entering his last and final year in JROTC. Robert plans on enlisting in the Army and becoming a chemical engineer after high school. He hopes cadets stay in the program and join teams.

TRAINING OFFICER (S3N)

Cadet Sergeant Major (c/SGM) Moraga, Carlos

The Training and Operations NCO is responsible for giving reminders for upcoming events as well as updating the yearly calendar for any changes. He also assists the S3 Officer with planning and preparation for all events and competitions. Carlos  is part of the varsity Color Guard, Armed Drill Team, Honor Guard, and Best Drilled Platoon. Carlos plans to attend college after high school.

SUPPLY OFFICER (S4)

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Morales, Elvia

As the S4, also known as the supply officer, Elvia is responsible for anything that has to do with supplies. This includes everything from issuing uniforms, ranks, ribbons, and awards to ensuring that we have enough office supplies and team equipment. In addition to being the S4, Elvia is the team commander for the Youth Physical Fitness (YPF), co-captain for the Unarmed Drill Team (UDT), and has been in leadership positions in JROTC.  Elvia has been in the program for 2-years with her twin sister and is also on varsity cheerleading and the track & field team.  Elvia plans on pursuing a career in engineering after high school. She hopes that cadets do their best this year.

SUPPLY OFFICER NCO (S4N)

Cadet Sergeant Major (c/SGM) Lino, Valeria


As the Supply Officer NCO, Valeria is responsible for making sure that company supply representatives are trained on uniform maintenance. She ensures that inventories are conducted and organized. In addition to S4 NCO, she is on the Color Guard team and Archery team. Valeria has been in the program for 1-year and has participated in award winning Best Drilled Squad & Platoon. Valeria plans to attend college after high school and pursue a career in the medical field.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER (S5)

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Cruz, Joseline

As the Public Affairs Officer, Joseline is responsible for the  promoting and capturing JROTC events and competitions. She is responsible for the Hoover Battalion Instagram page and newsletters along with photo archives for the Hoover JROTC program. Joseline is a recipient of the Superior Cadet Medal and a member of the 1st place Best Drilled Platoon. Joseline has been in the program for 3 years and entering her final year in the progarm. She is part of the award-winning Armed Drill Team (ADT) and Honor Guard. Joseline plans on going to San Diego City College to become a pediatrician and sooner or later enlisting in the Army or Coast Guard after high school. She hopes that every cadet gets the opportunity to experience making new friends, attend events, and to bond as the years go on in our battalion.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS ASSISTANT  (S5A)

Cadet Second Lieutenant (c/2LT) Guerra, Maria

As the Public Affairs Assistant, Maria is responsible for assisting the S5 with updating the Hoover Cardinal Battalion Instagram page and newsletters. She is also responsible for assisting the S5 Officer whenever needed. In addition to being the S5 Assistant, she  is also a member of the award winning Best Drilled Platoon and Armed Drill Team (ADT), and 1st place Youth Physcial Fitness (YPF) team. Maria has been in the program for 1-year. Maria plans to attend college after high school and pursue a career in journalism.

TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (S6)

Cadet Captain (c/CPT) Smith, Jacqualynn

As the Technology Officer NCO, Jacqualynn is responsible for updating and maintaining the Cardinal Battalion website and coordinating with the Brigade J6 for any IT related requirements. In addiiton to being the S6, Jacqualynn was a member of the 1st Place Best Drilled Platoon, 1st Place Youth Physical Fitness (YPF) team, and a member of the Color Guard team. Jacqualynn has been in the program for 3 years and has participated. She is also on the varsity basketball team and track & field.  Jaqualynn plans on playing college basketball for a division 1 / 2 college after high school and hopes that all new cadets and any incoming cadets find peace and find themselves within this program like I have the past 3 years.

TECHNOLOGY NCO (S6N)

Cadet Sergeant First Class (c/SFC) Vo, Anna

As the Technology NCO, Anna is responsible for assiting the S6 with any IT related equipment and issues. She is responsible for helping maintain the Cardinal Battalion website. In addition to being the S6 NCO, Anna is part of the award winning Best Drilled Platoon and the Armed Drill Team (ADT). Anna has been in the JROTC program for 1-year and plans to attend college afer high school. 

FINANCIAL OFFICER (S8)

Cadet First Lieutenant (c/1LT) Villaruel, Analica

As the Finance Officer, Analicia is responsiblefor fundraiser activities and making sure all funds are accounted for.  Analicia has been in the program for 2 years, and has participated in the Academic League, Armed Drill Team, and Best Drilled Platoon. Analicia plans on going to Law School at Saint Berkeley University and also plans to join the Navy or the Air Force. She hopes that every cadet in the program forms bonds with the people around them and continue to come back to the program!

FINANCIAL OFFICER NCO (S8N)

Cadet Master Sergeant (c/MSG) Iribe, Allison


As the Finance NCO, Allison is responsible for assisting the S8 in her financial duties. In addition to being the S8 NCO, she is on the Academic team, Unarmed Drill Team (UDT), and Color Guard. Allison has been in the pogram for 1-year. Allison is a recipient of the Superior Cadet Medal. After high school, she plans to attend college and pursue a career in the health field. 

LIAISON OFFICER (S9)

Cadet  Master Sergeant (c/MSG) Varela, Jacqueline


As the Liaison Officer, Jackie is responsible coordinating and planning with external organizations. He is responsible for coordinating JROTC task and requirements with the Associated Student Body (ASB) and reporting to the Battalion Commander. In addition to being the S9, she is the 1st Place Best Drilled Individual 1st Year Cadet, a member of the award winning Best Drilled Squad & Platoon, and the 1st Place Youth Physical Fitness (YPF) team. Jackie is in her second year in the  JROTC program. She is also cheerleader and ran cross country. Jacke plans to attend college and pursue a career in as a health professional.
