Answer: Many university Provide a formidable array of course, major and extracurricular opportunities but firsthand accounts indicate that many under graduate do not feel that the material conveyed in their reading and lecture has much relevance to their lives. Such sentiments suggest either that the course do not in fact contribute much to ultimate goals that Universities claims to value or that instructors are not taking sufficient care to explain the larger aims of their course why should matter.

Other studies suggest that many instructors do not teach their course in way best calculated to achieve the ends that faculties themselves. Consider important 99 % of the Professor consider critical thinking an “essential” or very important goal a University education.

Now most of the faculties have defined the learning objectives of their universities and its various departments and programmes, If should be possible to review recent examination to determine whether individual professor, programme and departments are actively designing their courses to achieve their goals. University administration could also modify their students evaluation farms the ask students whether they believe the stated goal were emphasized in the courses they took.

University need to reconfigure graduate programme to better prepare aspiring professor for teaching Two or three generation ago, majority of new PhD s at least in better graduate programme, found position where research us primary , either in major universities or Government. Many PhD s find employment in University that are devoted in teaching and not expected to do research.

A more substantial preparation is required and will become ever more necessary as a body as relevant knowledge continue to grow with all the talk in graduate school circle about preparing doctoral students for job outside academic.

Many department may fail to provide such instruction because they lack faculty with necessary knowledge but provosts and deans could enlist competent teachers for such instruction from else were in the university, although they may hesitate to do so, given them graduate education has always been the exclusive domain of the department. Enterprising donors might consider giving grant to graduate schools or department willing to make the necessary reforms. If even a few leading universities responded to such an invitation others would probably follow suit.
