Origin of the Gholkars

The word "Gholkar" comes originally from the name given to people who lived on the "ghol" side of a prominent river...as opposed to the "anghol" side...this has been handed down from Professor of History S. Gholkar. We go way back to the kingdom of Kolhapur (Shahu Maharaj) and even further back down the sands of time. The whole journey is an interesting anecdote.
