William Tyndale was a courageous Christian during perilous times. He felt strongly that the bible should be made available to the average person, and desired to translate it. The Church of England, of which he was a member, opposed him strenuously, but with the Lord's help, he successfully translated the New Testament into the common language. He carried on his work in jail, translating the Old Testament. His translations were distributed underground throughout England and became the basis for the King James version many years later.

In the end, the corrupt Church and their friends in government had their way. Tyndale was strangled and burned at the stake in 1536. However, his hard work in the Lord's service lived on, and his persecutors are forgotten in their graves awaiting judgment.
