John Huss was a Catholic priest in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) during a time when disagreeing with the Church could cost you your life. Huss courageously defended the Gospel as taught in the scriptures, even translating the bible into the common language. He taught his followers the importance of having Jesus Christ as Lord and the importance of using the bible as the authority on doctrine. He openly denounced corrupt Church practices and was eventually tried for heresy. He was burned at the stake in 1415.
