More Sewage Coming Here?

This summer, Westside residents filled Hollister's City Hall at many meetings to protest the decision of the Mayor & City Council majority to give away sewer service to developers who are building thousands of luxury houses outside of city limits, in the County. The sewage will be piped to the sewer plant located on the west side where many of Hollister Guardians' Latino supporters live.

See KSBW News stories below.

On June 20, 2023, Hollister officials voted to give sewer service to the developer of 1,084 houses at San Juan Oaks golf community. The Mayor & City Council majority ignored the protests of many Westside residents who spoke about the stench of living near the sewer facility and the injustice of more sewage from wealthy communities like San Juan Oaks. Only Councilman Rolan Resendiz opposed the sewer extension to San Juan Oaks. (See June 20, 2023, City Council Minutes & Video, Agenda item F1.)

On August 7, 2023, the Mayor & City Council majority voted to double the city's sewer capacity so they can give sewer service to developers building thousands of houses outside of Hollister. They ignored the protests of 80+ residents & discussed plans to extend sewer service to more housing developments outside of Hollister, at Fairview Road, Cielo Vista & Ridgemark. Only Councilman Rolan Resendiz voted against doubling sewer capacity. (See Aug. 7, 2023, City Council Minutes & Video, Agenda item F1.)
