About Us
We are two ELCA Lutheran congregations nestled in the serene landscapes of south-central Wisconsin, each with its own unique identity yet sharing a common faith and purpose. Rooted in joy and centered on Christ, we are active participants in our community, always eager to extend a warm welcome to new friends. Our churches find their home amidst the rolling hills and picturesque meadows of Waushara County, where the abundant wildlife seems to envelop us in a sense of sanctuary, akin to being sheltered on an ark.
When you join us for worship, you can expect to be uplifted by our heartfelt songs and laughter, engaged in the profound messages of God's Word, and inspired by our collective prayers, learning, and exploration. Happiness and gratitude infuse our community as we recognize and give thanks for the manifold blessings bestowed upon us by God. Our heritage is rich and multifaceted, tracing its roots back to the early days of the Christian Church, with the Holy Spirit as its guiding force. Over the centuries, the Church has been endowed with invaluable treasures, including a steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, a reverence for the Scriptures, the sacraments, the rich tapestry of worship practices, and the foundational creeds affirming the Holy Trinity.
Our Lutheran heritage is a testament to the timeless truth of our faith, a continuation and reaffirmation of the beliefs held by the early Church. At the heart of Lutheranism lies a deep and abiding focus on Jesus Christ as our crucified and risen Savior, through whom our faith is justified. We firmly believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, freely given to all who believe in Jesus Christ. While good works are not a means of earning salvation, they naturally flow from our faith as evidence of our gratitude and devotion.
In addition to our Lutheran heritage, we honor the legacy of the immigrant Norwegian farm families who, prompted by the Holy Spirit, established our churches in 1854. Their vision was to create vibrant communities of faith, anchored in the Lutheran tradition, and dedicated to lives of love and service. Through their dedication and sacrifices, they built the beautiful edifices that stand as a testament to our shared heritage and faith. Furthermore, our congregations reflect the rich diversity of God's creation, with members hailing from various cultural backgrounds. Drawing from this rich tapestry of faith traditions, we embrace the challenges of modern life with resilience and grace, committed to living out our faith in Jesus Christ while extending a helping hand to those in need.
Mount Morris Lutheran, established in 1854, stands as a beacon of faith atop the hills, welcoming worshippers each Sunday. Located just a few miles south of Mount Morris on Wisconsin Hwy 152, our historic church building holds a cherished place in our hearts.
Meanwhile, West Holden Lutheran, founded in 1893, was born out of a desire to provide a closer worship venue for its members. Our current building, erected in 1981, is nestled three miles south of Wild Rose or north of Wautoma on County MM, where our congregation continues to grow in faith and fellowship, embodying the spirit of Christian love and service in our community.
