Reflection
This is the other class that I took during my first semester. It dovetailed nicely with Intro to Web Development since I could use the skills I learned here in the development of my website. Honestly, I have been pushing digital media for years. Over fifteen years ago I started a publishing a spoken word CD with my students. In recent years we have been transitioning to a YouTube channel due to the death of CDs. The democratization of the means of production has been a great boon to the at-risk students that I teach.
The class focused on three types of media. Though we spent a majority of our time with photo manipulation, we also worked on sound and video recordings. You can see an example of the digital image work in the banner above. My experience with digital images had been somewhat limited to cropping, filters, and awkwardly inserting my son into places he had not been. The example above illustrates a quantum leap in quality.
As for video and audio production, I already had the skills that were taught in the class, but they did provide the impetus to move on from the outdated CD technology. You can see an example of the video production below. It features clips from our family trip to Alaska.
