Howdy!
In 2018, I threw a dart at a map of the United States. After two decades in the Midwest, I was determined to experience life and nature elsewhere. It was then I left the Windy City and cornfields for the Mountains-to-Sea state of North Carolina, where I resided happily for six years.
Despite my travels, the wanderlust in me was not satiated. In the summer of 2024, I began living in a 17ft vintage camper trailer, and traveling seasonally for work. This endeavor was bolstered even more so by my yearning to live simply, and closely with nature. In other words, "Rich in life, poor in the purse!"
It is my personal mission to help cultivate our collective relationship with nature for the sake of human potential, whether that be through conservation or outdoor recreation. I am looking forward to living with and learning of the land out West, and growing my community along the way.
With the wind,
Elizabeth
I am most interested in the opportunities to work with individuals or groups who partake in or are passionate about:
natural or off-grid infrastructure
sustainable tourism
holistic agriculture or medicine
land conservation, habitat restoration, etc.
art (pottery/ceramics, specifically)
animal or wilderness therapy
Trek in nearby natural parks or preserves; tour historical, cultural or art museums; practice favorite songs on my acoustic guitar; care for my body with stretch, mandala yoga, or qigong; get messy with clay (getting a portable wheel is #goals); get lost in a dystopian, fantasy or horror fiction novel; volunteer at land conservancies or animal rescues; support other creatives at open mics or pop-up markets; be the first to sing a Limp Bizkit song at karaoke; spontaneous Trash Treasure Hunts and public site cleanups; geek out over the Earth's unknowns, like the other 95% of the ocean and the supernatural; find lucky day seats at a live show; take the road less traveled, figuratively and literally!
I've a huge sweet tooth - count on me to try all the bakeries in town, or give you an excuse to eat dessert before dinner. I lived abroad in sleepy surf town in Australia for 6 months, and hope to live abroad again in the future! Despite being a brewery representative and wine shop bartender, I still can't pour a standard glass of wine or a decent draft beer. I have a tattoo that reads "wanderlust" - talk about on brand! I'm from Chicago, so don't talk to me about pizza unless you want the convo to get heated (pun intended). My favorite place to camp in North Carolina is the Cape Lookout National Seashore (Outer Banks, or OBX). I keep the lost art of snail mail alive by writing letters and sending postcards. Have gotten lost twice in the outdoors: 1) Went down the wrong creek and had to portage a canoe through blackwater marsh with cottonmouth snakes. 2) Mistakenly turned onto an abandoned horse trail and hiked an unexpected (and ill prepared) 17 miles in a canyon. Most basic thing about me: I'm a Swiftie.
