I worked with Dr. Kelly Naugle on a chronic pain study for a semester. I help with data collection, and analysis, and it's taught me the importance of evidence-based practice in healthcare.
I was accepted for the LHSI internship for the 2024-2025 school year. I worked under Dr. Komal Kochhar with the Research In Medical Education Unit with the IU school of Medicine, I support survey research that helps improve medical education across Indiana. This taught me how much behind-the-scenes work goes into better patient outcomes.
I started working as a physical therapy aide with Body One Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation. I assist with exercises, set up equipment, Take vitals, Upload Treatment plans and documents, and support patients during treatment. It’s helped me build confidence in clinical settings and strengthened my communication skills. This experience has confirmed my passion for becoming an occupational therapist.
P212 helped me clarify my career goals and map out the steps to get there. Creating a plan made things feel more real and achievable. I learned how to explore different health careers, write a professional resume, and set goals that align with my passion for pediatric occupational therapy. This class gave me direction and boosted my confidence in my path.
Camp Brosius was a huge turning point for me because it was the first time I really learned what leadership looks like in a college yet very fun. I grew by working closely with other students, stepping into new responsibilities, and learning how to communicate, solve problems, and support a team. Being in situations where I had to speak up, collaborate, and push myself socially gave me a lot of confidence that I didn’t have before. Camp Brosius helped me realize that I am a leader, and those skills are already shaping the kind of future pediatric occupational therapist I want to be.
KINE-P246 pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow as a leader. Teaching group exercises and learning about health promotion gave me more confidence in working with people. I learned how to plan, lead, and adapt activities to meet different needs, skills that will definitely help me as a future occupational therapist.
P403 was a hands-on cardio class where we learned through labs like water aerobics, indoor cycling, teaching group fitness, juggling, and building our own 5K plan. The biggest thing I took away was how much enjoyment, confidence, and accessibility impact someone’s motivation to exercise. Creating a seated cardio workout for wheelchair-using kids showed me that I’m good at making movement fun and inclusive. This class confirmed that I want to be a pediatric OT who helps kids feel strong and successful in their bodies.
