Historic Elmhurst Inc:
Historic Elmhurst Inc. was formed in 1939 when the several Masonic Bodies of Connersville acquired the property to preserve it for the community, to serve as the new meeting place of the several fraternal organizations, and keep it viable. On February 22, 1941 on the anniversary of George Washington's birth and after a years' long renovation and restoration the building was officially reoccupied and was dedicated as the local Masonic Lodge.
In 1986 Historic Elmhurst Inc. and individual members bequeathed one of the founding endowments to the Fayette Community Foundation, significantly contributing to it's establishment. In 1995 Historic Elmhurst and individual members bequeathed a second Historic Elmhurst Inc. endowment with the foundation.
In 2023 Historic Elmhurst Inc. applied for and obtained 501(c)3 status as bona fide public charity; and a Corporation for Arts, Culture, and Humanities.
