Historic Elmhust serves the region as community resource and civic center. In addition to being a local landmark building, a unique living museum, and registered on the National Register of Historic Places -- The building and grounds are available to be rented for events, family reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings, business meetings and conferences. Contact us to reserve the facilities and spaces for your upcoming events. This is a core source of much needed funding. Accordingly - building maintenance, upkeep and updates, to make it a better venue; and escalating operating expenses are core costs.
We also frequently and freely open our doors for tours upon request. We welcome the public to suitable public events which are both regularly scheduled and ad-hoc, and we serve as a location for picture-taking for prom-goers, just-married couples, and photographers and digital creators looking for subject matter or elegant backgrounds.
The local Masonic bodies have been our primary tenants and in-fact hosts and benefactors since 1939-1941 when some Masons organized Historic Elmhurst Inc. and generously conducted a two-years' long renovation and modernization, and re-opened the building after a period of vacancy.
Although founded and launched by individual Freemasons, Historic Elmhurst Inc. exists separately from the fraternity and in 2023 re-incorporated as a 501(c)3 in order to better serve the public, and to raise funds more broadly and efficiently. Warren Lodge #15 and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #346 remain our primary tenants and means of support.
