“Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance.” -Tim Gallwey
As a coach, I work in tandem with my students, to help them discover new tools and strategies to create and share. While working on reading fluency, my students now create audio books and podcasts, artifacts the not only show learning, but something they share with pride. Lessons on typing skills allow our students greater access to written expression, while hands-on engineering allows more tactile students the time and space to truly shine.
In an effort to allow students and teachers to increase their opportunities for creation, I have increased access and proficiency with Audio and Video tools that help enhance their lessons, projects, or promote their special events in their classrooms. This allows the teachers and students the opportunity to interact with individualized content, cultivated specifically for them.
Even outside of the classroom setting, I work toward helping our community. Dedicating my time to the Computer Science Committee to bring about a new academic department, working closely with the IT department to implement systemic change to our technology deployment, and by continuing the drive towards sustainability by working with our administrative assistants and human resources to find new ways of leveraging technology to go paperless.
Part of this effort is to continuously showcase our efforts as a school through media. I have found that making how-to videos allows parts of our community, too busy to attend traditional professional development, an avenue of individualized learning, while my school event videos provide an increased sense of school culture.
Below are some examples of those videos.
