COMMUNITY SUPPLY & DONATION LIST
Highway to Home is a community fundraising event supporting shelter dog adoptions and providing Welcome Home packages for adopted dogs. We are expecting approximately 150 guests and will have adoptable dogs attending the event. For dogs that are unable to attend, adoption boards featuring photos and brief biographies will be displayed to help them find their forever homes. We are seeking community donations to help make this event successful. Businesses and individuals can donate supplies, sponsor stations, or contribute raffle items. Every donation helps support rescue dogs and the families adopting them.

Games that will be at the event:
Animal Scavenger Hunt:
Material: Printed scavenger hunt sheets with pictures of different animals or objects related to animals (paw prints, bones, leashes, etc.)
Instructions: Hide animal-related items around the event area. Kids and parents can work together to find the items and check them off their scavenger hunt list. The first team to find everything wins a prize
Why it's fun: It's a great way to explore the event, engage families, and learn about animals in the process
Pin the Tail on the Dog/Cat:
Materials: A large poster of a dog or cat, a tail cutout with double-sided tape or velcro, and a blindfold
Instructions: Blindfold participants and have them try to pin the tail onto the dog or cat poster. You can use a twist by offering different challenges, like "pin the collar on the dog" for a change of scenery
Why it's fun: It's a playful and interactive game that gets both kids and parents involved in a classic party game with an animal theme
Pet Costume Content:
Materials: Pet costumes or costume accessories (options)
Instructions: Invite children and and families to dress up their pets (or themselves) in fun animal costumes. Hold a contest with different categories, such as "Funniest Costume" or "Best Animal Look-Alike". You can also provide props like hats or bandanas for participants to use
Why it's fun: It brings out creativity, gets everyone involved, and creates great photo opportunities
Animal Relay Races:
Materials: Cones, ropes, or hurdles to create an obstacle course
Instructions: Set up and obstacle course where participants have to move like different animals (e.g. hopping like a bunny, waddling like a penguin, crawling like a crab) to complete the race. Families can compete in teams
Why it's fun: It encourages physical activity and laughter while incorporating animal movements into the challenge
Animal Sound Matching:
Materials: Pre-recorded animal sounds (e.g. dog barking, can meowing, cow mooing) and animal pictures
Instructions: Play the animal sounds and ask participants to match the sounds to the correct animal picture. You can have cards with both the sound and picture to help younger children
Why it's fun: It's interactive, educational, and suitable for younger children, helping them associate sounds with animals
Create your own pet:
Materials: Craft supplies (markers, paper, googly eyes, fabric scraps, stickers, etc.)
Instructions: Set up a crafting station where children can create their own imaginary pet by decorating paper cutouts or creating animals using the craft materials
Why it's fun: It lets kids express their creativity and learn more about different animals while engaging with a hands on activity
