Maricann Inc. is one of Canada’s oldest licensed producers. Founded in 2013 and since April, 2020 a family-owned and operated company, we are a vertically integrated cannabis cultivator and producer and a proud Norfolk County community member. Labelled ‘Ontario’s Garden’, the county benefits from favourable environmental conditions and an experienced agricultural workforce. It’s membership in the exclusive group of EU-GMP-certified Canadian LP’s since 2017 allows Maricann to serve international clientele in the medical space as well as cater to both the Canadian medical and recreational cannabis markets. Operating out of a visionary purpose-built cannabis production facility, Maricann combines craft spirit with leading technology. The structure’s unique design contributes to standardization of high-quality cannabis by enhancing environmental control and isolation – enhancing, not replacing the crucial component of an experienced human touch. Every stage throughout the growth cycle will be overseen by our dedicated and enthusiastic cultivation team. Our entire team is about 35 strong, most of which are crossed trained in order run all aspects of the site efficiently.
Jenn comes from a family rich in Italian culture and ancestory. Born and raised in the USA Jenn’s a wife, a mom of 2, and grandmother of 1. She’s a high energy go getter that gets things done quickly and efficiently all whilst wearing many, many hats.
Jenn has received multiple licenses and certifications including but not limited to: GMP, GPP, GACP, Import/Export license and audit services, staffing, Quality Assurance Person and Master Grower designee from Health Canada. Jenn's also a member of the Cannabis Council of Canada, Women Grow and ASTM - an organization formed to develop international standards for cannabis.
Jenn’s certified in Agronomy and Horticulture and brings a deep understanding of producing and processing cannabis on a large scale.
Jenn was is a co-founder of Midwest Ranch, one of the largest wholesaler of cannabis flowers in the State of Colorado, which she was involved in since the initial recreational legalization there. Having invested in one of the first licenses issued in Colorado, she soon realized she needed to be actively engaged or lose the investment. This sparked a non-stop self-exploration and betterment journey to both educate herself and provide guidance and leadership in order to ensure businesses could be sustainable and profitable in a challenging space.
There, she oversaw cultivation, developed standard operating procedures and was responsible for both financials and government-mandated reporting. Subsequently, she provided cannabis consultations for indoor and outdoor cannabis cultivation in Hawaii, Switzerland and Germany, all prior to accepting the position of cultivation manager for Maricann’s existing and expanding licensed facility near Langton, Ontario.
Jenn joined the Maricann family 2016 after she was enlisted to walk through and provide guidance inside its original grow facility. She’s been honoured to be part of the company since. Following Jenn’s expertise the facility went from an average yield-per-plant that doubled in one crop cycle.
Jenn feels great flower is a combination of strong genetics and a dedicated staff – the flowers are a direct result of the staff – the better the group the better the results. Jenn has a motto - ‘Happy people, happy plants.’
Jenn has been recognized for the fact that she differed from most ‘growers’ in that she’s able to manage not only the grow but also the business side including compliance. This provides her with unique insight. Since she can perform and has experience with each job, she's able to provide a holistic view of both challenges and opportunities.
Jenn strives to keep learning and putting that knowledge into practice. Jenn knows this is a dynamically-evolving industry and adaptable perseverance is key. Regardless of gender, most growers are (by nature) kind and willing to share. Since there is no ‘magic’ sauce, it’s all in the subtle nuances individual growers employ through their experience that can be a differentiator.
Jenn is a believer that a great grower makes decisions based on the information they have at the time. Jenn knows that cannabis is a unique living plant that can make your day interesting in a hurry. Being able to react just as quickly - and effectively - is key to mitigating and stopping serious challenges and achieving consistent, quality results.
Jenn enjoys a challenge and wouldn’t have gotten into the cannabis industry or still be involved with it if she didn’t. Jenn also knows, from experience, that with a challenge, comes opportunities.
