Understanding the PTA
Understanding the Program
Students submit their original works of art in one or all of the available arts categories and participate in the appropriate division for their grade: Primary (Pre-K - Grade 2), Intermediate (Grades 3-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-12), Accessible Arts* (All grades welcome).
*Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Accessible Arts division or their grade division.

Interpretation of theme
Creativity
Technique
Interpretation of theme is weighted. If entries are tied, the entry with a higher score for the interpretation of theme will receive more recognition.

Welcome to the 2025-2026 Reflections Program
In Reflections, the annual theme is critical to PTA and student participation because all entries must be inspired by the annual theme. This year's Reflections theme is, I Belong!

Annual Theme Search
Each year, students are invited to submit themes for the annual Reflections Arts Program that will inspire young artists to create original works. Click here for more information. You will be able to submit your Theme search entries for 2027-28 between September - November (exact date will be updated).
From Art to Exhibit
Student winners from the local level (Monterey Highlands Elementary PTA) have the opportunity to move up through to the council, state, and finally national level.
National Reflections winners are announced in May and celebrated throughout the following year. To view national award entries, please visit National PTA Reflections Awards webpage for information about and artwork from our national winners.
