Description of this webinar: The Global Early Warning and Prevention System (GLEWS) identifies and monitors disease events, develops epidemiological intelligence for identification and mitigation of risks against emerging, endemic and epidemic diseases, and threats to environmental health and food security. The Quadripartite (FAO, UNEP, WHO and WOAH) collaborate and work together for an operational global One Health Intelligence system. This webinar explains how this is done.
Objectives of the webinar:
To describe the role of GLEWS+ in promoting early warning and detection of emerging health threats.
To explain how WHO, FAO, and WOAH collaborate to operationalize One Health Intelligence.
To illustrate how GLEWS+ detects, verifies, and disseminates signals of public health risks.
To describe the types of signals captured by GLEWS+ and their importance for global health security.
Asia-Pacific Forum 2024
The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), in collaboration with the Japan Economic Foundation (JEF), will host the Asia-Pacific Forum 2024 on November 28, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Makati Diamond Residences and via Zoom. With the theme “Navigating the Changing Geoeconomic Landscape in the Indo-Pacific Region: The Role of ASEAN”, the forum aims to foster meaningful dialogue among experts, scholars, and leaders across sectors to address critical issues impacting the Asia-Pacific region.
The forum returns to an in-person format this year after being held online during the pandemic, offering enhanced opportunities for engagement and networking. The event seeks to generate innovative solutions and promote collaborative efforts for the region’s sustainable development.

Official Launch of the Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) e-Learning Course
We are excited to invite you to the official launch of the Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) e-Learning Course, a pioneering initiative developed by CBM Global Disability Inclusion in collaboration with the African Disability Forum and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), with support from the Global Greengrants Fund. This course, accessible via Kaya Connect, is designed to promote inclusive disaster risk reduction practices globally, focusing on the active involvement of persons with disabilities.
