AHEN 2023 Award Winners!

Congratulations to Gabriella A. who is the 2023 selected recipient of the Aspirational - Overcoming hardship/challenges, perseverance and endurance to accomplishment of set goals and the 2023 African Heritage Educators’ Network (AHEN) Excellence Award!

This nomination was to recognize Gabriella’s hard work, positivity and accomplishments in Cosmetology. We are proud of you Gabriella!

Congratulations to Rihanna D. who is the 2023 selected recipient of the Excellence/Creativity in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Math 2023 African Heritage Educators’ Network (AHEN) Excellence Award! This nomination was to recognize Rihanna’s hard work, volunteerism and accomplishments in Cosmetology. We are proud of you Rihanna!

Congratulations To Jahlisa and Jahnia Lee

Jahlisa and Jahnia Lee began their journey into Hairstyling and Aesthetics a year and a half ago by putting their all into learning new skills during Cosmetology class. In addition, they volunteered everyday at lunch in Cosmetology for a full year. They went on to win the AHEN Black Student Excellence Award in Arts/craftsmanship category for all their hard work and skill in Hairstyling and Aesthetics. Last semester, Jahlisa and Jahnia Lee became the first students from Heydon Park S.S to be accepted into the Studio 500 Accelerated OYAP Hairstyling apprenticeship program. As they begin this program this semester, we are so proud of all their hard work, dedication to the craft, and the perseverance to overcome any challenges they faced to achieve their goals.
