Labour VI · The Stymphalian Birds

The myth

Around the Stymphalian lake lived a flock of birds with bronze beaks and feathers sharp as arrows. They hid deep in the marsh where Heracles could not reach them. Athena gave him a pair of bronze clappers made by Hephaestus. When he shook them the din drove the birds into the air, and he shot them down as they rose.

What it teaches

When you cannot reach the problem, change the conditions until it comes to you. And when help is offered, take it. The strongest people are not too proud to use the right tool.

How this Labour trains you

Labour VI keeps a steady, high-volume pace through its lifts, then finishes with conditioning work that tests your breathing as much as your strength.

Recovery

The cool-down stretches focus on shoulders and chest, with breathing recovery after the conditioning finisher.
