House Residency Qualifications
The Hearst Ave Residence is a membership organization serving the needs of the Bay Area Family Church (BAFC) community, in particular, housing needs of young adults (typically full and part time students) and church workers.
To qualify for residence at Hearst Ave you will need:
- One or more references/recommendations (typically by the BAFC pastor or member of a BAFC-related organization).
- Approval of the Hearst Board
- Parental approval (if you are minor)
Application Fee and Cleaning Deposit
Heart House has an application fee and cleaning deposit. This reserves your room and is refundable upon moving out. The application fee and the cleaning deposit is $100 total. Please see the Fees Page for information on when, where and how to make this payment. If Hearst House is unable to make space for you, then you will received a refund of your application fee and cleaning deposit. However, if you cancel or fail to move in, your application fee and cleaning deposit is NON refundable.
Room Availability
Hearst House, when full, is over 80% double occupancy (residents have roommates). Hearst House CANNOT and WILL NOT guarantee singles. Room assignments are based on seniority. Your application date is used to determine what your seniority standing is.
Long Term versus Short Term Rates
Long term rates require a commitment of at least 3 months or one academic term. Otherwise, Short Term rates apply.
Guests
Overnight guests of residents may qualify for waiver of House fees. See Guest page for details.
