What is a subluxation? A subluxation is any spinal bone that has moved from its original location. Subluxations will not typically self-correct and are not something a medical doctor will evaluate. Subluxations are only discovered and treated by professional licensed chiropractors. It is the job of your chiropractic physician to identify and treat subluxations through manual adjustments. An adjustment is the physical and direct movement of the bone to put the bone back into place. Although this may sound painful, it is not. Most new chiropractic clients have a fear of adjustments simply due to the “popcorn” sound it makes. This sound is not bone grinding against bone, but instead gas being released from between the joints.
