Welcome to the vibrant world of Theatre Arts at HBMS! Led by Mrs. Stuart, our program is fueled by a passion for the stage and a deep belief in the transformative power of performance for middle schoolers.
Beyond the spotlight, theatre equips students with essential life skills, including critical analysis, creative problem-solving, and disciplined organization. By fostering confidence and a collaborative spirit, we empower our students to succeed—not just on stage, but in any future career they choose. In this classroom, students grow as individuals and as an ensemble, building lifelong skills while having an unforgettable time.
What else do we learn in the Theatre Arts class?
Theatre is much more than just acting; it takes a diverse team to bring a story to life. Students can explore various design and crew roles essential to a production’s success. Throughout the year, we will dive into the specialized positions that make a show possible, including:

Students will have tons of opportunities to perform during the school year.
While students may join the theatre program at any time, we strongly encourage enrollment starting in the 6th grade. Early involvement ensures that students are eligible to compete in the UIL One-Act Play during their
7th and 8th-grade years—a prestigious district-wide competition between middle school theatre departments.
