I'm choosing to address the academic problem of poor time management because I think it's something that students are currently struggling with now more so than ever. My survey results show that many students have been facing challenges with their classes this semester, and a big factor that contributes to this is poor time management skills. COVID-19 has created time management issues for many students because online classes are easy to put off and procrastinate, since these courses don't require students to physically go into the traditional classroom setting and typically have a more flexible schedule.
There are many technological tools out there that can help solve or alleviate the academic problem of poor time management skills.
This free app can be downloaded onto your phone. It syncs all of your devices, email accounts, and other platforms, which allows for easier time management. It creates lists and reminders, which can be shared with other people.
Lucidchart is a polished and easy to use online mind mapping tool. Mind mapping can be helpful in solving time management issues because overwhelmed students can write down everything that they need to get done. Mind mapping can even be used to create a plan of action. Completed maps can also be shared through a link to other people, which could be helpful for planning time management for a group project.
Google Keep is another technological tool that could help alleviate time management problems because it allows users to create check lists, take notes, add reminders to notes, add collaborators, and more. This is a great way for students to stay organized and plan how to divide up their time wisely for their courses.
Distractions are a major cause of poor time management. Freedom is a technological tool that can block distractions such as websites, apps, or the Internet itself. It also syncs across all of your devices. You can schedule your block sessions in advance for the time that you need to dedicate to effectively study or get work done for your college courses.
