On May 16, the Hakka Association participated in two events simultaneously on May 16!
On one side, we showcased the charm of Hakka culture at the Asian Fiesta, and on the other, we cheered for the Asian community at the DC Dragon Boat Race. This year, we brought specially made "Ma Dao Cheng Gong" (Success Immediately) cards and beautiful Tung blossom pinwheels—the children couldn't put them down!
Even better, we had cultural artifacts and shopping bags provided by the Hakka Affairs Council. It was unexpected to see bags printed with Hakka language on the streets of Washington D.C.
Although it was two events in one day, seeing everyone's enthusiastic response to Hakka culture made it all worth it. Dividing into two groups to fully support—this is our Hakka spirit!

The annual "Fiesta Asia Street Fair" was held on May 16, 2026, in Washington, D.C. Leading the effort, the Taiwanese Hakka Culture Foundation of America, along with the Greater Washington Area Hakka Association and the Washington DC Hakka TungFa Choir, set up a Hakka culture booth to participate in the event.
This year's Hakka booth theme was an introduction to "Hakka Tea," featuring tastings of "Oriental Beauty Tea," which attracted a steady stream of visitors and received countless compliments. The site also featured DIY workshops on Hakka children’s toys designed by board member Chang Shuhua: "Ma Dao Cheng Gong" (Instant Success) cards and "Tung Blossom Pinwheels." These activities attracted visitors of all ages, allowing them to stop, create, and learn about the origins and culture of the Hakka people.
Promotional materials and small items provided by the Taiwanese Hakka Affairs Council greatly boosted the promotion of "Hakka" culture; the Taiwanese Hakka souvenirs were in high demand and were fully distributed.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Overseas Community Affairs Council for their guidance and sponsorship, the Hakka Affairs Council for providing promotional materials, and the selfless dedication of all staff members, which allowed us to once again promote Taiwanese Hakka culture in this lively and joyful carnival.
