The Aloha+ Challenge smart sustainable communities goal was informed by diverse public, private, and community stakeholder recommendations and built on existing metrics to measure livable communities in the Hawai‘i context. The Aloha+ Challenge Dashboard reflects data on targets from affordable housing to health to disaster resilience, and serves as a platform to track progress on Hawai‘i’s commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement.

By 2030, to withstand and recover from acute physical shocks and chronic stresses by reducing vulnerability, building resilience, and increasing adaptive capacity.

By 2030, minimize the negative impacts of land use on the natural environment and people, while enhancing the livability of the built environment.
06 | OPEN, PUBLIC, AND GREEN SPACES
By 2030, enhance and encourage diverse uses of and investment in Hawai‘i’s abundant public, open, and green spaces as well as cultural sites, and increase community-based partnerships and efforts for stewarding them.
