The program begins August 1. You can fly into Kona Airport (KOA) that day and we will pick you up or come in earlier to hang out. Southwest is flying to Hawaii and between islands for super cheap right now -- so maybe fly to another island to hang out and then come over.
We take care of you for three weeks until August 21 when we can take you back to the airport. Your food, housing and transport are paid for by the project for those three weeks. You will potentially have two days off in the middle of the program where you are free to make plans and adventure.
Here is the living situation. The first 10 days we will be staying on the outskirts of Waimea while the project is working at HuiMAU, and PuaNui. From there we will move to Mauna Lea in the Kona mountainside to work at the Kaloko Fishpond for a week. For the remaining three nights we move to Honoka'a for a final project on the northern shore. Throughout the weeks we will have field trips and explorations of various locations on the Big Island that we have built into the curriculum.
