Haverhill Farm offers individualized coaching for riders who want to pursue the hunter/jumper show ring. Our program focuses on developing effective, confident riders with strong fundamentals and good horsemanship, rather than simply preparing for the next class or chasing ribbons.
Riders compete at a level appropriate for their experience, goals, and horse, with opportunities ranging from home shows, travelling to local shows through the “A” rated circuit.
Our coaching emphasizes equitation, rider effectiveness, mental preparation, course strategy, and understanding the horse underneath you. Riders learn to evaluate their own rounds, recognize what worked, identify what needs improvement, and develop the tools to make adjustments in the ring.
We believe in giving riders honest, constructive feedback while recognizing progress and building confidence. The goal is to develop riders who can think, problem-solve, and ride effectively on their own.
Successful showing begins long before we arrive at the horse show. Lessons, training rides, horse management, and show coaching work together to ensure both horse and rider are confident, prepared, and appropriately challenged before being asked to perform in the show ring.
Haverhill riders compete on both the local and rated hunter/jumper circuits, with opportunities to progress from a first horse show through moving up divisions, qualifying for championships, and competing at larger venues.
Our team has traveled to the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington and Tryon International Equestrian Center, and we look forward to adding World Equestrian Center and other venues to our calendar.
Every horse-and-rider combination has different goals. Our job is to create an individualized path that provides the preparation, experience, and opportunities they need to continue growing.
Competition provides an opportunity to test what we've learned, set new goals, and continue developing as horsemen and riders. We are proud of our riders' results, but equally proud of good rides, good sportsmanship, thoughtful horsemanship, and progress that may never appear on a results sheet.
Our trainers are happy to discuss your goals and help determine the appropriate path for you and your horse.
