May 14, 2022. All work on the HAS Library has stopped. This means there will be no further system changes and no data collection. The HASlibrary.org domain expires on May 13, 2023 and will not be renewed. (read the January 26, 2022 note below).
On May 14, 2022 the following note was moved from the bottom of the Home page to this location.
January 26, 2021. On November 5, 2010, HASnotes announced a new sister website called HASmember. That site is now called HAS Library. Since its beginning the goal of the site has been to collect all current HAS documents and as many historical documents as possible and to present them in a highly organized and insightful fashion. Since its inception, efforts to improve the website with feature enhancements and an expansion of the breadth and timeliness of the document collection has remained the focus.
But things end...
In order to lessen the effort required to maintain the HAS Library, the goals are being relaxed. Beginning February 22, 2020, development of the website slowed. By January 26, 2021 it stopped. Document collection is not stopping but will be limited to items readily available.
January 26, 2022. Every May I pay Google a fee to continue ownership of the HASlibrary.org domain which allows you to access the library website by typing HASlibrary.org or haslibrary.org into a browser. HASlibrary acceses the actual program on Google Sites. Should the HASlibrary domain not work, try directly accessing the Google site by typing http://sites.google.com/view/haslibrary.
As of today, January 26, 2022, the HAS Library files are only stored only on Microsoft OneDrive. The website program remains on Google Sites.
Development of the web site has stopped. The data files will continue to receive the occasional new item.
Today is June 13, 2020. It was in November 2019 that Google's Backup and Restore program flagged the HAS Library and all of its data files for violating its Terms and Conditions. This was a Google error which still has not been corrected. Those flags still exist but I resorted to creating a new set of data files on One Drive and a new website called HAS Library od to share them with you. Until this week I thought this was the best I could do.
Google seems to have recently relaxed some of penalties for flagged files and I found a way to recreate the HAS Library files on Google Drive. I made a new website called HAS Library gd to access them.
I intend to keep both systems active although running duplicate systems is very difficult. The goal is to keep the websites looking the same but accessing data on two different cloud platforms. Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive present folders differently and you may prefer one to the other.
It is April 2020 and it does not appear that Google will remove the flags on the files in Google Drive so the version with files in Microsoft OneDrive is now the operational system. To do this HAS Library was renamed HAS Library Original and HAS Library Rebuild was renamed HAS Library.
On November 5, 2010, I announced on HASnotes a new website called HASmember. That site is now called HAS Library. Since its beginning the goal of the site has been to collect all current HAS documents and as many historical documents as possible and to present them in a highly organized and explanatory fashion. Since inception, efforts to improve the website with feature enhancements and to expand the breadth and timeliness of the document collection remained the focus.
In order for me to wind down this activity, the goals need to be relaxed. As of February 22, 2020, development of the website will be begin slowing and eventually stopping. Document collection is not stopping but will be limited to items readily available to me.
This December 19, 2019 rebuild of the HAS Library that can be shared with you. HAS Library files have been copied to Microsoft OneDrive for this version of the HAS Library and a new website was created with Google Sites to access the files. Hopefully the Library will return to Google Drive. The OneDrive data folder is called HAS Library. This required the new HAS Library web pages to have many new links. Let me know if you find one that does not work. FredNowak@comcast.net.
The original version of the HAS Library was built with Google Sites software and stored on Google Drive. In October of 2019 the files have been flagged for violating Googles terms and conditions and Google will not allow me to share with you the HAS Library website or its folders.
The HASlibrary.org domain was licensed on May 19, 2018 to give a better way to tell people how to get to HAS Library. Two days later the menu.HASlibrary.org subdomain was created to access HASmenu. The old ways to access HAS Library and HASmenu still work because they reflect where the websites actually reside. The new addresses simply forward the user to the old addresses. The topics.HASlibrary.org subdomain was added on September 22, 2018 to also access HASmenu.
HASmember was renamed HAS library on May 2, 2018. The site has always been chiefly a library so the new name is more apropos.
This Google New Sites version of HASmember became operational in March 2017, replacing the old Google Classic Sites version. However, development continued at a rapid pace and now that end of 2017 is here it is safe to say HASmember has reached a fully mature status. Of course, HASmember will continue to evolve as all good sites must, but the changes will be smaller and less frequent than they were in 2017.
HASmember became an active part of HASmenu at its inception in June 2017. HASmenu provides a unified look at all the pages of the HartfordAudubon.org and HASmember websites.
The original version of the HAS Library was built with Google Sites software and stored on Google Drive. The files have been flagged for violating Googles terms and conditions and Google will not allow me to share with you the HAS Library website or its folders.
Google announced in 2016 that they were beginning to create a new version of Google Sites. The then current version would be called Classic Sites. Eventually the Classic Sites will be eliminated. The New Google Sites version of HASmember became operational on March 8, 2017. The data in the Classic Sites version is no longer being updated. A look at the Classic Sites version is available here.
