The goal of thyroid hormone therapy is to increase the body's low levels of naturally occurring thyroid hormones.It is used to treat hypothyroidism, a disorder distinguished by an underactive thyroid. This type of thyroid secretes either insufficient amounts or none at all. Levothyroxine, a pure synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), is the thyroid hormone replacement that is most frequently prescribed. This hormone therapy is usually given in pill form(University of Rochester Medical Center, n.d.)
Levothyroxine dosage will be determined by a physician based on your age, weight, level of thyroid production, other medical conditions, and other considerations. About 6 to 10 weeks later, your doctor will recheck your TSH levels and, if required, change the dosage.
Your ability to absorb levothyroxine may be impacted by particular drugs, dietary supplements, and meals. Soy products, high-fiber diets, iron supplements, cholestyramine, aluminium hydroxide, sucralfate, and calcium supplements are some of the items that may have an impact on the ability.(Mayo Clinic, 2022)
2) T-3 hormone replacement therapy
The body must first transform T4 into T3 hormones before it can be utilised by cells. About 80% of T3 is produced by the body's internal conversion of T4 rather than by the thyroid gland itself. Treating low T3 levels is the goal of thyroid hormone therapy. T4 replacement therapy, which the body converts to useful T3, is typically the only way to raise T3 hormone levels.The synthetic T-3 hormone (Cytomel) or a synthetic T-4 and T-3 combination may also be prescribed by a physician for those who require greater symptom control. Even if T4 levels are raised, there may not be enough functional thyroid hormones because some diseases (dysbiosis) can impair the body's capacity to convert T4 into T3. In these circumstances, combining T3 and T4 is an effective way to treat hypothyroidism.

Thyroid hormone therapy has been found to cure emotional disorders and enhance mental performance. By impacting the serotonin pathway, therapy with T3/T4 as an additional medication can help psychiatric problems(Park Compounding Pharmacy,2020).
Alternative medicine: Prescription drugs and dietary supplements,such as Armour Thyroid, are both available that contain T-3 and T-4 hormones obtained from pigs or other animals. Vitamin A-The most prevalent vitamin deficit in the world is vitamin A insufficiency. The gene that controls Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is activated by vitamin A, which is crucial for thyroid hormone receptors. However, you should exercise caution when taking vitamin A supplements as it can lead to deficits in other fat-soluble vitamins like D, K, and E. Vitamin B- Hypothyroidism can result from a B-vitamin deficiency, more especially from deficiencies in B2, B3, B6, B12, and B9 (folate). Folate is particularly significant because it closely relates to TSH levels. High levels of stress typically lead to a depletion of B-vitamins.

Zinc-T4 production and conversion into T3, the active form of thyroid hormone, both depend on zinc. Thyroxine, the dormant type of thyroid hormone, is transformed into T3 to become active.Even if you have adequate T3, your cells' healthy T3 receptors won't function at their best if you don't have enough zinc.
