Scott Harvey obtained his BSE, MS, and PhD in Civil Engineering from Duke University in 2009, 2012, and 2013, respectively, with a focus in structural engineering. His dissertation research was performed under the supervision of Professor Henri P Gavin. His research included building, testing, and modeling rolling isolation systems used to protect building contents from earthquakes.
After completing his PhD, Scott worked under the supervision of Professor Lawrence N Virgin as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science at Duke. His postdoctoral research was sponsored by the US Air Force and focused on the static and dynamic stability of slender aerospace structures.
Scott joined the School of Civil Engineering & Environmental Science at the University of Oklahoma as an Assistant Professor in 2014 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020.
