Stanley’s martial arts journey started in Jan 1996 in Aikido (Aikikai style) under Philip Lee Sensei (Aikido Shinjukai), attaining first Yudansha level in 2000 (examiner Shihan Yoshiaki Yokota from Aikikai Hombu at Gurkha Dojo while it was under Aikido Shinjukai) and was heavily influenced by the (late) Shihan Hironobu Yamada (a direct student of Shihan Hiroshi Tada) since 1999.  Second dan examiner: Shihan Philip Lee (2002 at Pine Tree Club Dojo under Aikido Shinjukai). Third Dan examiner: (late) Shihan Hironobu Yamada (2014 at Bishan Dojo), Fourth Dan examiner: Shihan Hideo Yamaguchi (successor of Yamada Shihan's school in 2018 at Toa Payoh Central Dojo).

Stanley started instructing Aikido in 2000 while at Aikido Shinjukai, stopped Aikido at Shinjukai from 2006 - 13 then recommenced at Aikido Kenshinkai. In Sep 2020, Stanley set up Haru Yama Aikido in order to continue to Practice, Motivate, Empower and Coach like minded Aikido students who are interested in the Aikido taught by the late Shihan Hironobu Yamada at Toa Payoh South and East Community Centers, Singapore.


Stanley started Shinkendo (a Toyama Ryu Batto jutsu/Nakamura Ryu derivative by Kaiso Toshishiro Obata who was also an ex-uchi deshi of Gozo Shioda and founder of USA Battodo Federation) under Lonnie Oaks Sensei in Singapore in 2003; whom he has taught and shared much with. When Oaks Sensei retired from ISKF, studies continued under Jeff Tie Sensei and Kaiso Toshishiro Obata. During July 2017 - 2018, Stanley took on the role of Shibucho of Shinkendo Singapore and has stepped down and retired from Shinkendo Federation to focus on Aikido since Jan 2020.

Stanley Ang currently works at SAP, the German software company as a Global Senior Director overseeing the company’s Sales Forecast Franchise Practice. He graduated with a MBA (Deans Honour Roll) from Nanyang Technological University (1998) in Singapore and a Bachelors Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia (1992), Canada.

Kwee Boon started out in Aikido Shinjukai and has been a close student of Stanley since 2000 and assists in many ways, the practice and philsophy of Aikido that was handed down by Hironobu Yamada Sensei. 

KB attained the first yudansha level (shodan) in 2019 July at Toa Payoh Central Dojo Examiner: Shihan Hideo Yamaguchi (2019 at Toa Payoh Central Dojo)

KB has completed the Nidan level grading in 2022 Aug at Toa Payoh East Dojo. Examiner: Arjun Shrestha Sensei from AAAN

KB does Software Product Marketing and has an MBA from University of Western Australia.
