Choir

Welcome to the Harlan Choir! Whether you’ve been in choir for many years or you’re interested in joining for the very first time, we have a place for you! We have five ensembles: Cast, Madrigals, Chorale, Tiercel, and Chamber. Our choir family takes pride in being welcoming and inclusive and we hope we are able to show, through our members, that we have room for everyone!

In our program, students will learn the basics of reading music and performing as an ensemble. You will be pushed out of your comfort zone and encouraged to try, make mistakes, and try again! Everyone will perform in four annual concerts as well as have opportunities to participate in other events, such as contests, festivals, tours, and outreach projects. All curricular choirs are offered during our 8-period schedule and are year-long courses. We hope to see you as one of our newest singers!

This course develops skills in proper vocal production and music reading. Students learn to improve their singing voice, sight-reading and ensemble skills through performance participation. Choral literature will include all genres of vocal music written for the treble voice. Each level of this course, will build on the foundation of the previous course. Students will develop in confidence and collaborative skills through performance opportunities in solo, small and larger vocal ensembles. Enrollment in this course constitutes agreement to fulfill all curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular requirements.
