January 20, 2021 -- The City Lake Contractor (Solitude Lake Management) had a single boat on the lake, where supposedly a "spot-treat" copper algaecide application was applied (blue colored sprayed liquid) on the lake over a course of a few hours-- it was the product described from the September 29, 2020 dated U.S. mailed letter to residents. This product was supposed to be utilized in the months prior to treat the ongoing blooms on a regular basis, but was never implemented until this date.
Based on the photos, blooms were not hindered, due to this treatment. Other methods/analysis continue to not be pursued by the City and Solitude Lake Management without any stated explanation, despite years of requests.
February 3, 2021 -- The City Lake Contractor (Solitude Lake Management) sprayed, from multiple boats onto the surface of the lake, a 3rd application, of an unknown volume of "GreenClean 5.0" -- the product described from the January 28, 2021 dated U.S. mailed letter to residents.
After this 3rd treatment, the lake water does not appear the same as after the first treatment results in March 2020, where maximum clarity and elimination of detectable Microcystin toxin were achieved for a short time period. Currently, after the 3rd treatment, blue-green algae (BGA) is still present in large visible quantities . The DEP confirmed toxins still are present during their February follow-up samples taken by boat. The DEP did not sample the shoreline areas where BGA build-ups were still present.
