The Local Policing Command (LPC) was formed through the merger of the Prevention and Neighbourhoods Command and the Response and Patrol Command, alongside the transfer and creation of some investigation teams now aligned under LPC. This reorganisation streamlines frontline policing, improves operational effectiveness, and ensures a more integrated service to communities across Hampshire.
LPC is divided into three policing areas — Eastern, Northern, and Western — each led by a Chief Superintendent (Area Commander). Within each area, a wide range of teams work collaboratively to keep communities safe, prevent crime, and respond to incidents. The command operates with a flexible, borderless approach, enabling effective deployment of resources across district boundaries to meet demand dynamically.
Each district is overseen by a District Commander, who is a Superintendent in city districts or a Chief Inspector in boroughs. They are supported by a Deputy District Commander — a Chief Inspector for city districts or an Inspector for boroughs. These leaders ensure coordinated delivery of local policing services tailored to their communities’ needs.

Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT)
Focused on building strong, trusted relationships within local communities, NPTs work proactively to understand concerns, prevent crime, and reduce harm. Through engagement with residents, businesses, and partner agencies, they deliver reassurance and address local priorities. The team also delivers community outreach, public events, and communication campaigns to build trust and confidence in the police. Their work fosters positive relationships and encourages community involvement in policing and safety initiatives.
