In my special education placement, all of my lessons were differentiated based on each of the students needs and abilities. However, this lesson was for one student in kindergarten. The student has needs that make focusing and staying on task challenging, so it was important that I differentiated my instruction to make it engaging and keep the focus of the student. This lesson is also located under the teaching cycle reflection.
At my third grade general education teaching placement, all of my students were pretty much on the same academic level. However, all classes and lessons need to be able to be differentiated. This attached lesson plan involved learning about text and graphic features and what each one looks likes. I created a powerpoint presentation with images and explanations. The students were given construction paper, writing utensils, and a small cut out picture of each text feature. the students were able to either just use the picture, just write the explanation, or both. The choice was theirs based on what they thought would help the most.
