My parents and their friends didn't care much for couples Halloween costumes scary. They weren't dressed up at all. Although they took us trick or treating. I always wondered why adults behaved like this when I was a kid. Ever since I was a teenager I was in love with costumes and ghostly dresses. I loved dressing up as villains from scary movies like Jason, Freddy Krueger, or Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I loved scaring little kids with these kinds of looks, but it didn't take me long to realize they weren't very original or special at all.

When I was about 17 years old, I discovered for myself that I really liked costumes for couples. Of course, that was the time when I had my first real relationship and I was in love. So what could be a better sign that we're together than dressing up in the same costumes for Halloween. Some of our friends laughed at us and thought it was a little childish, but they changed their minds when they realized that many adults do the same. So suddenly we weren't the only ones entering the next Halloween party in couples' costumes. At the time, many of our friends thought it was something funny and we started thinking about costume ideas together long before the parties started.

The following year, couple costumes were the hit in my circle of friends and even their siblings. A whole bunch of people went to the Halloween parties of the following years in Halloween costumes that complemented each other. Occasionally we were in pairs, but most of the time we appeared as complete groups of several people. We had all kinds of costumes. Sometimes we dressed up as characters from fairy tales, sometimes as TV or movie characters, but the most fun we had when we all went out as superheroes from our favorite comic magazines. At least we've had a lot of fun these days and none of us have forgotten the Halloween parties we had back then.

We were all teenagers and went to school. We didn't have much money, but we had enough free time to make our costumes ourselves. Some of us did pretty well making the costumes and we all shared our skills to help each other get it all together. It really became a teamwork project that started a few weeks before Halloween. We bought some accessories from Halloween stores because they were too complicated to make. After the second year we had several costumes that we could combine into new ones so that we had a good supply to make new costumes from the previous Halloween costumes.
