Before First Semester
2-3-2022
Contacted Dr. Ellen Rubenstein after acceptance into the MLIS program to introduce myself and talk about enrollment.
We met on 2-4-2022 over zoom. In the meeting, we talked about why I chose to apply for an MLIS degree, what my future plans were, and some information about the Data Analytics certificate.
Fall 2022 – First Semester
10-14-2022
Sent Dr. Rubenstein my Program Planning Form
She said it looked good and that I could go ahead and send it to Stacy Smith.
10-17-2022
Sent Dr. Rubenstein my verification that I completed the e-Portfolio 101 course
10-27-2022
I got married and let Dr. Rubenstein know of my name change so she could have it for her records if needed
9 hours were completed this semester
Spring 2023 – Second Semester
2-3-2023
I contacted Dr. Rubenstein to ask what communication works best for her regarding my 9-hour check-in.
We decided email would work since I did not have a lot of questions at this point.
2-13-2023
Sent Dr. Rubenstein my Introduction video narrative and Statement of Personal Learning Goals for my 9-hour check-in. I told her that I knew my Introduction would include more once I progressed in the program. Also talked about the artifacts I was adding for my three courses completed.
Dr. Rubenstein said everything that I sent looked great. The only thing she mentioned is that I should make sure that I show strong connections to my own learning goals and the program goals when writing my artifact reflections.
9 hours were completed this semester – Total completed was 18 hours
8-14-2023
I hit the 12 and 18-hour completion mark at the same time semester so I sent Dr. Rubenstein my 12-hour reflection, finalized Statement of Personal Student Learning Goals and Objectives, and my Statement and Goals for Continuing Education. Also provided her with the list of classes that I had planned for the Spring 2024 semester.
Dr. Rubenstein was confused as to why my 12-hour reflection included so many courses but after realizing I am taking 9 hours a semester she understood. She said everything that I had completed looked good so far.
9-1-2023
Asked Dr. Rubenstein what forms I needed to have turned in since I would be graduating in the Spring semester. Since I am taking 9 hours a semester, I would not have 30 hours completed until I was done with the program technically. So, I went ahead and sent her the link to my e-Portfolio as well.
She helped me get in contact with the SLIS office. They let me know of all the steps I needed to take to ensure graduating on time
Dr. Rubenstein viewed my portfolio and had issues with my link at first. I sent it to her personally and she said everything looked great so far except some items were private and could not be viewed. I changed the setting of those items and she said it looked great.
Dr. Rubenstein signed my intent to present on 9-5-2023.
9 hours completed this semester – Total completed was 27 hours
3-21-2024
I sent my e-Portfolio link to Dr. Rubenstein and asked if she could review it for me if she had the time.
She reviewed my Portfolio and said that everything looked great. The only recommendation provided was to include some more information on how what I learned completing my artifacts aligns with the ALA and OU SLIS goals.
9 hours completed this semester – Total completed was 36 hours
