OBJECTIVE

To obtain an administrative position that allows for the development of lifelong learners through diverse experiences, cognitive connections and social interactions. I have a strong interest in enhancing communication between teacher and parent relations, initiative to develop and teacher learning through professional development, as well as the motivation to exceed administrative and state targets.

Michigan State University 2013 - present

Master of Arts in Education Administration

In this program, I have learned to maintain and facilitate the business of a school, foster teacher, and student learning and relationships, as well as expand, develop and implement the curriculum.

Western Michigan University 2009 - 2012

Bachelor of Science in Education

In this program, I created unit plans, taught mock lessons, and interned in three separate classrooms. This program help develops my confidence and style of teaching that I would bring to the classroom.

Kalamazoo Valley Community College 2006 - 2009

Working towards bachelors.

During this time, I developed the basic skills needed to maintain, plan, organize, and run a classroom. My major area of focus being Early Education and minors in Mathematics, Social Studies, and English Language Arts.

WORK EXPERIENCE

St. Joseph School, Sylvania, OH 2014 - 2016

6th Grade: Homeroom, Science, Religion, and English Language Arts

  • Taught three courses of science with a focus on integrating S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), as well as English Language Arts.
  • Helped build curriculum to support the integration of English Language Arts with Religion.

3rd Grade: Homeroom, Mathematics, Religion, and English Language Arts

  • Interpreted data from NWEA MAP tests to create reading and math goals and individualized plans for each student.
  • Created problem-based math lessons that involved students working together to find possible solutions.

St. Augustine School, Kalamazoo, MI 2012 - 2014

Middle School Teacher: 8th-grade Homeroom, 6th-grade Homeroom, Mathematics, Religion, and English Language Arts

  • Taught sixth grade Old Testament and church history using Faith First by Benzinger.
  • Integrated Catholic Social Teachings Principles throughout theology, mathematics, and language arts and coordinated multiple service projects including weekly playground cleanup, Catholic Schools Week Pancake Breakfast, Senior Citizen Bruch, and Family Fun Night (carnival).
  • Taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grade mathematics as aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
  • Created project-based lessons using the Big Ideas Math series by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
  • Taught advanced mathematics classes including seventh grade accelerated math and eighth grade Algebra I.
  • Provided tutoring and remediation during a lunch-and-learn program as well as after school.
  • Taught eighth-grade literature, language, and writing where I aligned previous Michigan Grade Level Expectations (GLCE) curriculum to Common Core State Standards
  • Served on a committee to select new ELA curriculum, as well as a writing series to complement the ELA curriculum.
