The project was completed in a team of students. Those involved are as followed: Hagan Miller (Environmental Art and Level Design), Woody McCoy (Programming), Yumi Sato (Music and UI), Margot Stewart (Animations and Character Concept Art), and Chileshe Otieno (Programming) This was a 4 week project.
You are Morty, an early industrial poor child. On the verge of death, you find yourself in the Underworld and discover that your soul can leave your mortal body and possess nearby objects. Wanting a second chance at living, you seek the Eternal Flame, Hades’ precious treasure. Along the way, you must defeat enemies and solve puzzles that stand in your way, all while using your newfound ability and protecting your mortal body.
Levels 1-2
The beginning of level 1 also served as a tutorial. It would be where the player became familiar with the feel of jumping and the possession mechanic. The first level has simple puzzles with a handful of solutions to get passed each section. It takes place in a cavern as is the way into the underworld as part of the story.
The 2nd Level takes place in the Library of Hades, our main boss. The 2nd Level takes the possession mechanic further in order to make more difficult puzzles.
Each level had a pixel art foreground that was made using a tile system and then they had a digitally painted background.
