For Winter 2020, the Girls Who Code Club at Lakewood Public Library (OH14284) had 12 coders, 3 facilitators, 1 sponsor and an additional librarian assistant/facilitator. The club met on Monday evenings for 12 weeks beginning January 6, 2020. Unfortunately, the club had to cancel it's final 2 sessions due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Club members used the Girls Who Code HQ site to find activity sets and other materials. Each week, they learned about a Woman in Tech, further explored Computer Science Concepts, practiced coding in Scratch, Python, and HTML/CSS, and worked together on an Impact project. Club Members were also introduced to tools for modifying image files and 3D Printing. They also experimented with the Circuit Playground and creating their own videos.
The club worked on the Impact Project they had chosen during the Fall 2019 club with a theme of Beach Cleanup/Plastics & the Environment/Climate Change and a planned audience of Teens/Young Adults. They did create a site to share the coding & CS Impact projects they worked on but as of 7/2025 it is no longer available.
