Fall Regattas 2024
September 7-8
Women's Fleet Race Regatta (NA)
Riley Cup Open Fleet Race (ODU)
To start this fall season, our Women’s team attended the Navy Women’s regatta and coed headed to the Riley Cup at ODU. Women’s tied for 3rd place with Coed taking 2nd overall. Special shout out to Jeb Betchel ‘26 and Lexa Lee ‘25 for placing 2/16 in B division! A great way for the team to start off the season.
September 14-15
John Quinn Open Fleet Race (MON)
Chesapeake Invitational Fleet Race (NA)
After a weekend of competition, our sailors are back from the John Quinn regatta and Chesapeake Bay Invitational. GW sailors claimed first place at John Quinn and 5th at the Chesapeake Invitational in Annapolis! Looking forward to the top 9 next weekend at Cornell.
September 21-22
Top 9 Combined Open Fleet Race (COR)
Top 9 Combined Women's Fleet Race (COR)
This past weekend, our Women’s team and Coed team traveled to Ithaca, New York for the Top 9 Women's and Open Regattas at Cornell University. Even with shifty and light conditions, both teams placed 5th overall at the end of the weekend.
September 28-29
Women's ACC 1B (BRN)
Moody Trophy Open Fleet Race (URI)
The team traveled to Rhode Island this weekend to compete in the Moody Trophy at URI and women’s ACCs 1B at Brown University. Women’s finished the weekend in 10th with coed in 13th.
October 5-6
Open ACC 1B (SMC)
Oyster Bowl (ODU)
Stu Nelson Women's Fleet Race (CC)
GW sailors traveled to three regattas across the region over the past few days. Women's headed to Connecticut College for the Stu Nelson Regatta, placing 7th overall. C division took 2nd place, B took 5th, and A claimed 9th. Coed traveled to Open ACCs at Saint Mary's and placed 12th. Another open team went to Oyster Bowl at ODU and placed 9th overall.

Women's ACC's (SMC)
Nevin's Trophy Open Fleet Race (KP)
The team competed at Women’s ACTs and the Nevins Trophy this past weekend. The women’s team won the Atlantic Coast Tournament, with Ari and Ella winning B division by 22 points. Special thanks to alumni @tay.mile, @sarahhardee and @annabelleobryan for coaching at Saint Mary’s! #raisehigh #gorevs

Our women’s team and open team spent the past 6 days in Boston at the national women’s and open fleet race semifinals and finals!
Congratulations to our women’s team for making the finals and to all who sailed. So proud of everyone, especially our seniors who helped us make it happen. Check out pictures below for some highlights!

Spring Season Regattas 2024
March 2-3
DC Open Team Race (GW)
The team began this spring season with a team race hosted by GW and Georgetown. It was lots of fun getting to sail on the Potomac with other teams and our sailors did a great job competing. Special thank you to alumni Ruby Gordon and Cam Feeves for coaching and supporting us as well as Sherman! We are looking forward to the spring season ahead!
March 9-10
Navy Spring Women’s Team Race (NA)
St. Mary’s Open Team Race (SMC)
This weekend the team traveled to Annapolis for the Navy Women’s team race and to St. Mary’s for the open team race. Coed finished in 6th and women’s took 11th! Great job to all sailors and thank you to @islay_vandu for coaching the women’s team this weekend!
March 16-17
St. Mary’s Women’s Fleet Race (SMC)
Graham Hall Open Team Race (NA)
Another busy weekend for GW sailing! The women’s team traveled to St. Mary's for a Fleet Race and placed 6th overall. Co-ed headed to Navy for the Ghran Hall Open Team race and placed 15th. Great job to all sailors. Looking forward to the rest of the season!
March 22-24
Szambecki Open Team Race (ODU)
Last weekend the team traveled to Norfolk, Virginia for the Szambecki team race at ODU! Conditions were very windy, great job to all sailors! Looking forward to the next few fleet race regattas of the open season!
March 30-31
MAIS Spring Women’s Fleet Race (HWS)
The women’s team traveled to Hobart for the MAISA Spring Women’s Fleet Race Champs this weekend and placed 7th overall! Great job ladies!! Thank you to open skipper Jeb (class of '26) for coming to coach and support us. Looking forward to the rest of the spring season.
April 6-7
Emily Wick Trophy Women’s Fleet Race (CONN)
This past weekend the women’s team won the Wick Trophy fleet race at Connecticut College!! The team battled shifty conditions and strong current this weekend with Avery Canavan, Ella Adelman, and Lexa Lee placing 3rd in A division and Ari Angueira and Gen Mumma placing 1st in B division. Amazing job everyone!
April 13-14
Truxtun Umpstead Open Fleet Race (NYM)
This weekend the coed team traveled to New York for the Truxtun Umstead fleet race at SUNY Maritime. Breezy conditions kept races from starting on Saturday, and after a full day on Sunday the team finished in 7th place! Great job to everyone!
April 20-21
America Trophy Open Fleet Race (NYM) and GW Invitational (GWU)
Last weekend the team traveled to New York for the America’s Cup hosted by SUNY Maritime and placed 7/18. The team also hosted the GW Invitational here in DC! Great job to all of our sailors and we are looking forward to another great weekend!
April 26-27
Admirals Cup Fleet Race (NYM) and Georgetown Invitational Fleet Race (GTN)
This past weekend, coed traveled to KP for the Admiral's Cup. Conditions were all over that place. After a full day on Saturday, no races went off on Sunday due to wind conditions, and the team placed 12th overall. Lexa Lee '25 and Eva Wieting '26 sailed at the Georgetown Invitational to represent GW with Catholic, American, and Georgetown sailors and placed 6/18. Great job to everyone!
Fall Season Regattas 2023
This past weekend was the last regatta weekend of the season for GW sailing! The Women’s team headed up to Kings Point, New York for MAISA fall championships and Coed traveled to Ithaca, New York for War Memorial. The women’s team and Coed team placed 8th overall at both events. We are looking forward to post season! #raisehigh #gwu

This weekend, the team traveled to Connecticut for Yale Women’s and Annapolis for the Open Atlantic Coast Tournament. Conditions were super breezy at both venues. Great job to everyone and special thanks to the Canavan family for hosting our women’s team. Also, thank you to Sherman for coaching open and alumni @ruby.tues.day and @mattpriebe for coaching and supporting the women’s team! #raisehigh

Women's ACT Championship (Brown)

Another busy weekend in the books for GW sailing! The women’s team traveled to Brown for Women’s ACTs and Coed to Kings Point for the Nevins Trophy. Women’s took 6th/17 overall and coed placed 9th/18. Special thank you to the Canavan Family for hosting the Women’s team. Looking forward to the last few weekends of the season!

The St. Mary's Oyster Bowl Invite (SMU)
Open ACCs 1B Fleet Race (Harvard)
Busy weekend for GW sailing with coed ACCs in Boston and Oyster Bowl at Saint Marys! Coed placed 12th up in Boston. In Maryland, the breeze was on both days, with gusts up to 30 knots. Women’s finished in 3rd and Coed in 9th at Oyster Bowl. Great job to all sailors!
September 30 - October 1
Moody Trophy (URI)
Women's ACCs 1A (USNA)
This weekend, GW Sailing traveled to Rhode Island and Maryland to compete in Women’s ACC’s 1A at Navy and the Moody Trophy at URI. Our Women’s team finished in 13th and Coed in 12th. Thank you to alumni Ruby Gordon '23 and Sherman Thompson for coaching our Women’s team on Saturday and Sunday!
September 16-17
The John Quinn Open Fleet Race (MON)
This weekend, the team traveled to New Jersey to compete in the John Quinn Regatta. GW sailors took first place overall, placing number 1 in both A and B divisions. Conditions were breezy with hurricane lee passing through, which allowed for a wrap in one day after all sets were completed.
September 9-10
Women's Regatta (USNA)

First regatta weekend of fall ‘23 is a wrap! Our Coed team placed 3rd at Riley Cup and Women’s took 6th at Navy, despite tricky conditions for both teams. Special thank you to Sherman for joining the Women’s team this Sunday to coach! We are looking forward to a packed fall schedule.
