With the support of the GUTT.UP project, KAU held an online lecture on European research infrastructures

Kyiv Academic University continues developing in the field of innovation activity. On May 21th, 2020, with the support of the “German-Ukrainian Transfer Technology University Partnership” (GUTT.UP) project, KAU held an online lecture “European Research Infrastructures as a Component of the European Research Area”. The event was held for KAU employees and invited guests in the framework of the online lectures of the Innovation Center of KAU.

The lecturer was Andriy Shevchenko, invited speaker, PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, who is working on the creation of the website “European Research Area in Ukraine”. Andriy Shevchenko also participated in the working groups on the Draft Law "On Higher Education" and the Draft Law "On Scientific and Scientific and Technology Activities". He was the initiator and participant in the creation of the group "ERA of Ukraine".

Among the main issues, covered by the lecturer, were the problems of the centers of collective use of devices of the NAS of Ukraine, which are the prototypes of the European research infrastructures.

The participants learned about the goals of the European Research Area and its importance for Ukraine, the system of funding research and innovation through the European Structural Funds and the Horizon 2020 program, as well as considered the new priorities of the European Research Area for 2021-2030.

In his presentation, Andriy Shevchenko summed up that Ukraine could gain a lot of opportunities for the development of science from the cooperation of Ukrainian scientists with European research infrastructures and the use of Open Science tools, as well as from participation in global open innovation ecosystems of research infrastructures.
