Events GUTT Spring school 2022

3 May

On the first day there was a general meeting of students, graduate students, teachers and project coordinators (Christoph Cususmano, Project Manager DAAD GUTT.UP, Martin Kufferath-Sieberin, Project Coordinator, Olena Borovska, Project Coordinator, Marianna Kokhan, Project Coordinator).

In the afternoon, the participants of the Spring School had the opportunity to get acquainted with the city of Würzburg, learn about historical moments and get information about the University buildings.

5 May

During the first week, participants got acquainted with the activities of the library, work schedule, sections and opportunities to organize individual and group work in the Central Library JMU. In the afternoon, the project coordinators held a Tour Campus Hubland

10 May

Prof. Lukas Worschech, Head of the Technology Transfer Office, opened the event as he greeted our Ukrainian guests.  «Welcome to Würzburg!» - the main slogan of today’s opening day, filled with organisational issues, a bright description of the University of Würzburg and all the activities: educational and cultural. 

In the second part of the day Martin Kufferath-Sieberin - everything about Julius-Maximilians-Universität of Würzburg (JMU), including historical points.

12 May

Anna Rosenfeldt held  Presentation "International Research Funding", during which participants were able to learn more about open opportunities for Ukrainian researchers. During the meeting, researchers from Kyiv Academic University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, National Aerospace University «Kharkiv Aviation Institute» and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv exchanged information about the projects they are currently working on. 

In the afternoon there was Presentation Technology Transfer Office (Christoph Cusumano, Martin Kufferath-Sieberin). Participants learned more about the work of the office, structure, staff and existing projects.


16 May

During the Lecture “How to build a startup” Prof. Dr. Olena Thyplitska told the participants about the creation of startups, the ecosystem and offered to brainstorm and present team ideas. After the discussion, the teams presented ideas in various areas, and continued to work with them as homework

17 May

Start-Up Session. Dr. Julian Lurz presented a topic “From startup founder into the private equity industry” where it was mentioned about the importance of data quality and challenges, founders face with in the IT industry. And other startup story partisipants heard was about «Poxray» that is for optimising how many products bakery needs on this day depending on the weather and so on.


18 May

Participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the family center and learn more about the activities for Ukrainian refugees


19 May

This day was the continuation of the lecture "How to build a startup"

Participants continued the theme of last class but discovered other aspects of it: mapping out the best possible direction, how to present your product, where to find your target audience. Some book recommendations "How to build a business model" by Alexander Osterwalder and "The lean startup" by Eric Ries.

Also, the participants had the opportunity to present their startups and get useful advice from Prof. Dr. Olena Thyplitska


23 May

The presentation "How the War has affected live in Ukraine" took place, during which participants of Ukraine (Yaryna Sulyk, Kira Horiacheva, Marianna Kokhan, Yana Valko, Anastasiia Mazur, Luchka Olha) were talking about how the war has affected their lives and their lives. close people.

Philipp Gieg (Department of International Relations and European Studies) - German foreign policy regarding the war in Ukraine. Philipp Gieg was talking about German foreign policy, including some historical points to better understand the background of German decision.

30 May

The TGZ Würzburg with an area of around 3,000 m² supports technology-oriented founders and start-ups with a focus on automation and industry 4.0. The location on Hubland, the high-quality equipment with the latest technology and comprehensive service and advice offer optimal conditions for our tenants to further develop innovative business ideas with like-minded people. 

Participants learned about the possibilities of creating and developing startups in the center. They also had the opportunity to meet one of the startups and listen in more detail to his history of creating a startup and further work on it.



2 June

Partesepants had seen a presentation of the Faculty of Business and Economics. Lecturer told us what a perfect  environment for creative minds they have here, in the university of Würzburg.

Partesepants were told about the number of employees, Nobel prize winners and faculties. Also they showed all the professors of the economic faculty that they have

All of Partesepants got an explanation about how to enter the Würzburg university and what type of studies the offer (bachelor/master degree, double degree program, etc)

That was a great experience and a dozen of useful knowledge, especially for those, who want to study in Würzburg.

Students and researchers presented the results of their own work during the internship program and work in project group. Students also had the opportunity to present startup ideas and receive short feedback.

The participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the internship program, briefly described the importance of such events, students and researchers talked about the experience they received during their stay and received certificates.
