FAQ- Incoming FHS 7th Grade Parent/Guardian
Here are Frequently Asked Questions from parents of incoming 7th graders:
FHS uses JMC to report grades, attendance and some other announcements. You may access JMC directly from the Parent Login on the Fisher School Website. You can also download the JMC app and check the information that way.
2. Are 7th graders separated from the rest of the high school?
Due to our small school setting, 7th graders are not separated from the rest of the HS students. Their lockers are intermixed per their assigned Knight Time groups.
3. When do they get to pick classes?
In 7th/8th grade students only choose if they want to be in a music or non-music class. Students start to choose more elective classes in 9th grade.
4. Can they leave for lunch? How long? What can they bring for lunch?
7th graders are not allowed to leave FHS campus for lunch. Lunch is 30 minutes and they can choose to bring their own food, however, there is not a microwave or a way to heat up their food. Our school is also a Peanut-Aware school and students are asked not to bring items that include peanuts or peanut butter.
5. What are the cell phone policies?
Cell phones are NOT PERMITTED during any part of the class period. They are allowed during passing times, before school and during lunch. Cell phones are NOT allowed in the locker rooms. Please be mindful of texting your student during the school day, it can cause added stress and distraction from their learning.
6. What hours are the library open?
The library is open during regular school hours.
7. Communication from the school to parents? How often is communication sent out?
The FHS school office uses JMC automated messaging via text, phone and email messaging. The school bulleting is emailed daily to all HS students and the monthly newsletter is sent via mail and email. If you have questions about your communication options you may ask the main office.

FHS offers afterschool homework help regularly on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30, but can be requested any day of the week. There is also Math homework help before school every day from 8:00 -8:25am.
9. When are Jr. High activities? Where do they sign up? How do they sign up?
There are Fall, Winter and Spring activities at the high school. Students can sign up in the office for respected seasons as announced via the school bulletin. There is also a Parent/Athlete meeting prior to each season. The Fisher Booster Club is always open to new members/helpers! You may check the Fisher School Website and JMC for this information as well.
10. What do I do if I need to pick up my child early or if they arrive at school late?
The main office needs to be notified of any absence, including late arrivals and early dismissals. Each student is required to sign in when they arrive late and/or sign out when they leave early. You may be requested to come in the main office and provide proof and permission of their absence.
11. Who do I contact if I have questions or concerns about my child’s classes or grades?
FHS School Counselor, Sonya Lundstrom, and Principal, Catherine Steinmetz can help with academic advising. Mrs. Lundstrom can also assist with college and career readiness, or any personal/social issues. Should you have a concern about your child’s grade in a particular class, it is asked that you first communicate with that class teacher to resolve the concern. If that is not satisfactory to your situation, then you may contact Mrs. Steinmetz for assistance.
