The Scorpions were the first
side to face the devastating form
of the Sarnians and surprisingly
it was Alex Robinson who dropped
the only game of the encounter.
Robinson was one of only two
players in the division with a
100% record, but it fell during a
surprise straight games defeat to
Craig Hastie, who Joshua Butler
had earlier dispatched in straight
games.
Butler won his other singles
match in straight games over Steve
Crosby and Joshua Stacey and
Ben Foss also came through the match unbeaten.
Going into the weekend with an
unbeaten record of 10 victories,
they proceeded to add another
four straight wins to finish the
season with a perfect record and
a massive seven-point gap to the
sides in second position, Warrington
TTC and Rotherham Scorpions II.
Those sides were the opposition
on the opening day of the action
and comprehensive 7-1 wins were
recorded in each.
RAVENSCROFT I finished their British National League campaign off in style this weekend and secured promotion from Division Four North.
Butler continued his blistering
form in the afternoon with two
more straight game victories over
his Warrington opposition.
Robinson and Foss chipped in with two wins, but Stacey was defeated in straight games by David Eden, having started with a straight-game win over Mark Bleakley.
With the title already sealed, the relaxed side romped to an 8-0
whitewash over North Ayrshire in the penultimate match.
The outclassed Scottish-based
side were unable to even extend
any match to the full five-game
distance, Ian Macpherson coming
the closest during his four-game
loss to Foss, 14-12 the score in the final end.
The final match resulted in a 6-2 win over venue hosts, Halton TIC IV. Butler had dropped his first end of the weekend during a fourgame win over Andrew Macpherson, but he was back to top form in this fixture with straight-game win numbers six and seven of the weekend.
Robinson clinched the highest
averages accolade by winning
both of his singles matches in straight games.
Stacey beat David Eckl in four,
but lost out 12-10 in the fifth to
Anthony Whelan in the opening
tie of the match.
Foss beat Jordan Mcgarry in four, but was defeated by Eckl in straight games.
All four Guernsey players feature
at the top of the averages for
Division Four North in terms of
wins over the course of the season,
Foss with 22 out of 28, Stacey
with 23, Butler with 24 and Robinson
with 27.
The Ravenscroft second string
team comprising Lawrence Stacey,
Paul Hainsworth, Dawn Morgan
and debutant James Rabey found the going tough during the final weekend of fixtures in the fiercely contested Division Four South.
They finished the season in sixth place and will remain in Division
Four next year.
