2022 GT Chess Speaks for Itself Open

Our second open tournament of the semester will serve as our second qualifier for the Pan-American Intercollegiate Chess Championship in January 2023 in Seattle. You must play at least one of the events to have a chance of qualifying. Qualified players will be chosen based on your results in these tournaments and is dependent on how many teams we choose to send.

Qualifier (4 round USCF Rated Swiss)

Schedule:

  • Round 1: 10 am

  • Round 2: 12:30 pm

  • Round 3: 2:30 pm

  • Round 4: 4:30 pm

Time Control: G/45 d10

Entry Fee:

  • $20 by Nov 6 Nov 9

  • $30 by Nov 13 @ 9:30 am

  • $10 discount for GT students

  • FREE for FM, IM, GM, WIM, WGM (entry fee deducted from prize)

Prizes (b/30):

  • 1st: $100

  • 2nd: $50

  • U1800: $25

  • U1300: $25

Other:

  • If you show up more than 30 minutes late, your game will be forfeited and you will be removed from the tournament.

  • If your phone rings during the game, you will get a time penalty for your first warning. For your second warning, you will be forfeited.

  • You are allowed up to one half point bye (must request before the tournament - will be considered a 0 point bye if requested after round one starts).

  • You must be eligible for Pan-Ams to qualify for our Pan-Ams team.
